Magnify (Magnificat)

‘‘Magnify’ is a contemporary hymn that reflects the love and joy expressed
by Mary in the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55). Originally written for World Youth
Day 2023 with its theme being ‘Mary arose and went with haste’ (Visitation Luke 1:39), the song also captures the broader themes of God’s grace and mercy and the importance of humility and faith.

Mary’s hymn of praise (The Magnificat) emphasises God’s faithfulness, justice and the
transformative power of faith in Mary’s yes to God. The bridge includes the
repeated lyric ‘The almighty has done great things for me’ further
emphasising Mary’s proclamation of joy.

Magnify is suitable to use with youth and young adults, however, parish
congregations would also find the song useful with its strong Marian
theme. Magnify can be used in Mass most suitably at thanksgiving or as a
recessional hymn. The song can be used by schools, churches, youth
groups at a variety of community and congregational celebrations.

The music is arranged for piano/guitar/vocal and for piano/choir.
