This song may be sung as a chant either individually or in a group. When in a
group, the melody line should be repeated until all the children are calm and
refreshed. You may wish to add harmony to the melody line to heighten the calming
effect. Ask confident children to sing ostinato patterns with the words ‘water’ and
‘silent’. It may also be helpful to ask some children to keep a very steady beat on
a metallophone or xylophone while the ostinato parts are sung.
